Urban Garden Lighting Design

Good garden lighting transforms outdoor space and allows exterior areas to be enjoyed after dark. Working alongside landscape architects we transformed this urban garden in the centre of historic York allowing the owner to enjoy this amazing space day and night.

Using high quality in-ground and concealed LED light fittings to create contrasting layers of light, dark and shadow, the garden becomes an exterior ‘room’ - an extension of the house, with sofas and even an outdoor TV. Four different light scenes can be recalled from the Rako lighting control system and can be adjusted by the homeowner via an app on their iPhone. The system is set up to turn on the garden lighting at dusk each day, automatically adjusting this throughout the year as the seasons change.
