Maison B, EXQUISITE home in East Yorkshire
Maison B is a complete re-modelling and renovation project of a large suburban property in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Upon completion it featured in well known national publication ‘25 Beautiful Homes’.
An authority on the Italian renaissance, our Client acquired this property primarily for its potential to house part of his vast collection of books, artwork and iconic pieces of furniture. Working on all aspects of the project from conceptual design through to appointing contractors and project management, we were able to maintain the highest of standards and finishes throughout. For example, we designed and procured bespoke joinery in English oak to the library and American walnut elsewhere, incorporating existing joinery designs from the house.
From the ceilings hang Murano glass chandeliers and Fortuny light fittings imported from Italy. Rich silk damasks hang at the leaded windows. A solid bronze fire bowl sits in the hearth of the formal sitting room and the ceiling to the library hosts a mural depicting references to the Clients favourite renaissance artwork. The pièce de résistance however has to be the Vale conservatory from which the beautiful gardens can be enjoyed by day and night - see Gorgeous Garden.
